Wedding reception games your guests will actually join
Choose one optional game guests can join at their tables and, if you want, one short hosted activity. These ten ideas include suggested timings, supplies and example prompts so you can plan around dinner, speeches and dancing.

Wedding reception games for guests
Timings are planning suggestions, not promises. Match the game to your guests, venue and reception schedule; participation is always optional.
The photo scavenger hunt
Allow 20–30 minutes during the drinks reception. Put five prompts and the album QR code on each table: a table selfie, a detail you love, a dance move, a new friend and a message for the couple. Ask before photographing someone; let guests skip prompts. A friend can choose a favorite afterward — the album does not score challenges.
The shoe game
Plan five minutes, two chairs and one shoe from each partner in each person's hands. Sit back to back while a host reads eight light questions. Try: Who chose the first date? Who packs earlier? Who picks the music? Agree the questions in advance, skip embarrassing topics and finish before the next course.
Guest bingo
Allow 10–15 minutes at arrival, with one 3×3 card and a pen per person. Squares might say: knows the couple from work, enjoys gardening, has a pet or traveled by train. Guests find willing matches and write first names; one person per square. Offer a seated table version for anyone who prefers not to mingle.
The live slideshow guessing game
Choose a five-minute round after dinner. You need a screen, a browser and reliable internet. With permission, guests upload a close-up of a decoration and tables guess what it is. Rehearse upload-to-screen timing and gallery visibility; processing and approval can delay display. The player checks for photos every 15 seconds, rather than showing every upload instantly.
Wedding trivia about the couple
Give each table one answer sheet and a pen for a five-to-ten-minute round between courses, agreed with the caterer. Ask five questions such as the first holiday, a shared hobby and a favorite meal; avoid details only one friendship group knows. Read the answers and award a small prize you arranged beforehand, rather than a hired centerpiece.
The anniversary dance
Reserve one song with the DJ and invite willing couples to dance. The host can celebrate different anniversaries and invite a short piece of advice, without eliminating people or requiring anyone to explain their relationship. Offer a seated dedication too. Check the couple likes the idea before adding it to the schedule.
Find the matching photo
For a ten-minute table game, print each approved photo of the couple twice and cut out individual photo cards. Guests find the matching copy or match cards while seated, then share the story behind a picture. It needs paper and no internet; a seated version suits mixed-age groups without sending guests around the venue.
Caption this
Allow five minutes and use one photo the couple has approved, shown on a screen or printed at each table. Collect one caption per table on paper, then have a host read a few favorites. Lawn games during drinks
Offer an optional 20–30-minute station with beanbag toss or another venue-approved game during drinks. Confirm space, equipment cost and setup with the venue, then name one person to run it. Keep routes clear and provide a seated activity plus an indoor fallback. Stop the games when dinner or speeches begin.
The time-capsule toast
Invite a 15-second message during a quiet part of the evening: a shared memory, a wish or advice for your first anniversary. With Premium, guests enter their name and upload the video through the browser; Standard collects photos, so offer a handwritten message photographed for the album instead. A volunteer can help, and a phone can save a clip for later upload if connectivity is poor.

Arrival: one optional icebreaker
Set out guest bingo or five photo prompts for the first 20–30 minutes. Print a short instruction, give guests a pen or QR link, and name a helper. Nobody needs to finish a challenge before eating or joining the celebration.
Between courses: one short round
If service allows, use five minutes for the shoe game or table trivia. Give the host the questions and an agreed stop time. Avoid interrupting food service, speeches, the first dance or a busy dancefloor.
After dinner: photos without a deadline
Leave the QR invitation available for willing guests. Test an actual upload on the venue connection and the display browser before the party; prepare paper prompts if the screen is unavailable. Photos appear only when processed and permitted by the gallery and approval settings.
Choose supplies and access together
Paper games need cards and pens; hosted games need a willing speaker; a slideshow needs a compatible screen and internet. Use readable print, offer seated play and a helper for uploads.
